Bread Pudding

Posted on Mar 1st, 2009 by Deisy : Respect is key Deisy
I think I'm gonna make some bread pudding today :D I bought a big piece of french bread at Albertson's so that was nice.

Giora is on the bus to Ma'ale Hachamisha RIGHT NOW! from his base :P He's stationed in the border with Lebanon, but he is extremely safe, or I'm extremely uninformed by him.

I just ate a mixta for breakfast. A mixta is a kinda hot dog that you eat in Guatemalan streets. It's a hot dog in a tortilla with guacamol on top and you can add other things if you like.

Of course mine was vegan.

I just remembered also that in Guate you eat fries with ketchup and mayo mixed LOL yum!

I made lima beans with this special soup the other day, but I didn't like it :/

I also made vegan tiramisu but...it was NOT what I expected LOL

I accidentally bought WHOLE GRAIN pastry flour, and you can imagine what it tasted like, blah!

It's March! my birthday is in 25 days, and usually I accustom to just shut up about it and let everyone forget to see who I can hate for the rest of the year (usually nobody falls for it -_- lol) but this year is special my friends...

I am turning... EIGHTEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! 18, 18, 18, 18. When I see the number 18, I think liberty, Chip N' Dales and cigarriatos (Cigs in Ukranian..yes, I've seen Everything is Illuminated too many times :P)

I think I'm gonna have them ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wooopeee!

Okay. So. I have lost complete hope in finding a job and ever leaving in June. I think I might run away with the first bastard that offers me to go, or just hurt my parents the whole summer so they can remember why it was good for me to leave for college. If they're not willing to help me get out, then I'll make sure to make their lives hell.

On to more important issues...

The president of Somalia has agreed to implement Sharia Law upon the people, but not because it's a personal choice, but because the idiot rebels want it and he wants to shut them up. He agreed to them in one condition..that it will not be strict.

Unfortunately Sharia Law is like communism. It sounds WONDERFUL (not exactly, the law is actually the worst imaginable thing for women) but in reality, it cannot work. Why? Because the people in charge will always break it and do as they please, while the people at the bottom will be forced to follow it (even secular Muslims, and non Muslims will be harassed) without being able to leave.

The real Sharia Law is actually pretty 'ok' in some aspects, because as I know of it, it is a matter of choice, and you cannot force anyone to do it unless they want to. For example, Sharia Law says that girls as young as 9 can be married (can't have sex until they get their period -I got my period at 11 so imagine that! That's horrible!) BUT..the big but goes in here, a girl CANNOT be married against her will. She has complete control of whom she marries (according to the law) and cannot be obliged to be with someone she doesn't want to.

Well, families don't give a crap, and neither do govts. As you all have heard (I'm positive no one cares lol) the common cases taken to Saudi courts about the very young girls that were forced to marry at like 10. These girls were FORCED, and even though religious law says you can't do that, of course everyone still does. And that's just two cases people, things like this happen like oil in Saudi and all over the 'uneducated' Muslim world. Yes, I consider close minded people and republicans uneducated. They usually use their daughterls to pay off debts. Not like they give a crap about their personal feelings, and it's usually the FATHER doing this...

Sharia law (just like every other religious law) is quite moronic. It says that the father is the sole guardian of the kids if the parents divorce. He owns the boys at a certain age, I think it's 4 or 5, and girls after they're like 9. It's sad truly, because in Muslim countries women have to stay with abusive partners and horrible men just because they will get their children taken away. The fathers don't really give a crap about the kids and are just looking to get remarried so they can get a nice fuck once again...

Also, there is this special law that men can get married for like a day or a week, basically to just have SEX with women, and then divorce them and go on with their regular wife. Remember, in Islam you can have up to 4 wives, but innumerable 'concubines'

I hate religion. All of them are so twisted and stupid. I wonder how this world would be without it...

Here's a nice video for those who want a good laugh LOL

Landover Baptist Pastor Preaches to Atheists

He's an Atheist comedian btw, so don't think he's actually a pastor. Though some religious people actually THINK LIKE THIS LOOL

Okay, off to do some AP Environmental Science homework..

We're on the air pollution chapter.

toodles!

Vegan Pizza!

lol Yes, I only put a bit of purple onion on it because I didn't want to ruin it just in case it turned out bad, but it didn't, it turned out AMAZING! I'm sorry I don't have a better shot of it, but it was so good that even my omnivore mother LOVED it, my sister who's a vegetarian loved it as well! It was truly the best vegan pizza I have EVER eaten before, it's even better than real pizza I would say.

This is where I got the instructions for the dough:

(super easy, like seriously frighteningly easy)

http://www.ethicalpizza.com/2008/09/ethical-pizza-video.html

This is the pizza sauce that I made (bought it at Mother's Market, probably can get it at Whole Foods or other 'vegan-y' stores)

Their website is www.enricos.com

and I used Follow Your Heart vegan Monterey Jack cheese...It tastes just like mozarella so there's no difference in the pizza really.

(To the side you see some chocolate bread pudding :P It's a bit apart so it doesn't look that good, but it tastes AMAZING!)

The cutting board looks weird since it's wet...but that's just it being wet :P and I was cutting spinach on it previously so there are some pieces of spinach still there LOL

I haven't posted in a really long time.

Well I'm leaving for South Korea in about three weeks, I just got an email from my host sister in South Korea and I'm very super happy :D

I made lasagna, banana bread and bread pudding today. Yes, I went all out on the cooking lol.

I also am gonna make a baby spinach/red cabbage/red lettuce salad with balsamic vinaigrette yum!

My dear boyfriend is coming home this week! He's not allowed to tell me when (stupid army rules), and he's gonna be home for a week. I talk to him from 4-5pm every day :) It's like 2am his time though! And he's guarding up to 12 hours a day in the northern part of Israel so he's cranky because apparently it's quite boring :/

Life is pretty darn good at the moment. Today is a very depressing day due to the crappy weather, but the baking has kept me alive.

I'm doing really good in school as well, we're having SCSBOA (Band competition that my school is hosting) next week! I've practiced like a beast so I better be amazing on the songs. I've performed so many times that I've lost count, and I guess it has also made me pretty outgoing :P

I'm going over to Maneja's house today and bringing some food (IDK if she'll like it since she's picky!) and reading a million pages from my assigned book in AP English.

I need more vegan cheese! I ran out for my pizza. Bleh!

toodles!

Tomorrow is the band competition SCSBOA hosted by GGHS! YAY!!! I'm going to be doing the second shift tomorrow and Friday and be the sight reading judge's helper, third year in a row!

There's nothing better than getting your period after severe PMS. It reminds you that bad times are temporary and nothing is worth you crying hours over... bah.

:D

Got $25 for my Environmental Club today from the recycled bottles!

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week and is not PMSing :)

I got in to Mount Holyoke all women's college.

I got in for the Spring though.

That was all I wanted in the first place, to even get in.

I am a mess, and I think they might have been smoking a joint while viewing my application..lol.

Mount Holyoke and Korea

Posted on Mar 31st, 2009 by Deisy : Respect is key Deisy
Going to Korea in ONE day. :D Finally I get out of this idiot continent at least for a week.

I can't wait until I truly leave forever though.

So I am like over the top excited about Mount Holyoke, I can't believe it!

They're giving me like $45,000 out of $50,000 to go to their super amazing and awesome private school with everything you can imagine. Who could possibly get a better deal?

Gawd, I must stay humble, I can't feel too much better than everyone else in my family, even though I hate them.

I went to eat hummus and falafel yesterday, yum. Like always, I'm a falafel/hummus aficionada and have tried like a dozen different Arab restaurants in little Arabia (Anaheim)

I have SO much to do, but I feel like doing nothing, and since I own my life I'm gonna do nothing.

I am such an arse today :P

Also got a free detention today, I had to serve like five but got it discounted due to some other stuff.
